This Wednesday : Trailblaze at Green Street Courthouse

Okay lads. So this is very important. This Wednesday night you are going to this.

Trailblaze is an evening of inspirational speakers around a particular theme. With musical interludes and festive food.

You need inspiration and here is where you’ll get it. I was asked to speak at the first Trailblaze event as part of Dublin Contemporary. I was terrified, but I had a great time and I ended up meeting a really cool group of people. For me, because the work I do intersects theatre, art and activism it has been hard to find a community of like minded peers, but I think I have found it here. I  have been to this a few times since and each time I went it put me on a new path. You hear amazing quotes- get ideas* and end up talking to exactly who you need to be talking to at that moment in your life.  Their residency at Body & Soul this year was a particular highlight, three days of inspiration, relaxation and chats.

I think in these times, finding a community of people who can inspire and challenge you is essential. We need real heroes in our lives. Heroes Exist.

There are real heroes in the world and they are at this event. This particular one features RITA FAGAN, my absolute all time inspiration station at the moment and my sister Veronica Dyas who you all know is amazing. Its all put together by Kathy Scott & Clare Mulvany who are also two of lifes real heroes. BE THERE.

Here’s the line - up etc.

Following a sell out summer roadtrip, Trailblaze is back and will take place in Dublin on November 28th at The Trailblazery unofficial HQ - The Former Special Criminal Courthouse on Green Street, Dublin 7.

The Trailblaze Series is designed to showcase and promote creative and socially engaged ideas, while providing a platform for people who see new possibilities for Ireland to share some insights and inspiration. Given the seminal history of Green Street Courthouse, The Trailblazery team decided to curate a radical event which would both honour and challenge the history of the building and investigate ideas around Justice for the times we live in. We find ourselves enmeshed in structures and systems that no longer serve us and feel it is vitally important to highlight the stories and spirit of trailblazers who are challenging and evolving our current concept of Justice, on an individual, national and universal level. It is time to rock the boat, turn the tide, step up and participate in creating the type of society we want to live in. The theme for the 10th Trailblaze event is: ‘I fought the law and…?’ taken from The Clash’s version of the classic punk anthem, a clarion call for DIY ethos, agency and rebellion. Trailblaze will be hosting speakers who have each attained extraordinary achievements in the field of justice, championing civil liberties, advocating social change and promoting human rights.

Speakers include :

Colm O’Gorman, Director of Amnesty Ireland and an ambassador of The Trailblazery, who will be introducing the event. http://colmogorman.com/

Senator Ivana Bacik (Reid Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology at Trinity College Dublin)
